The Baroque Saxophone - Works by J.S. Bach, Byrd, Corelli, Handel & Purcell
for Saxophone Quartet This is a collection of music from the Baroque and Renaissance periods arranged for saxophone quartet. The pieces arranged here all lend themselves well to four players, maintaining the essential material of the music. Transferred to the pure and haunting sound of saxophones, there is an added beauty (perhaps melancholy?) to the music. All of the pieces are faithfully adapted, along with written added ornamentation at repeated passages, as would have been normal in the Baroque period. Available to purchase from Aria Editions here These arrangements were made for the Ferio Saxophone Quartet, who recorded them on the following album: REVIVE - Baroque Arrangements for Saxophone Quartet: Chandos Records (CHAN 10999) |
