Johann Strauss - Champagne Galop
for Chamber Orchestra


Johann Strauss Snr. (1804-1849) composed his Champagne Galop in 1828 at the age of 24. The galop was a fast Viennese dance that was popular from around 1815-1848, and considered by some to be dangerous.

​Instrumentation: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Harp, 2 Percussion (timpani, snare drum, triangle), Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Violoncello, Double Bass (15 players)​
