Free Wheeler
for Organ Solo

Free Wheeler is a fun jazz piece in a swing big-band style. It is loosely in a sonata form but features many improvisatory ‘breaks’ as well as various sections of brassy chords against a walking bass. It is playable on a two manual organ, and registration can be as simple or varied as the performer wishes.

It was first performed by Elizabeth Day, in the church of St Giles’ Cripplegate, London in May 2014.
