Animal Parade
for Saxophone Quartet and Piano

Framed by a lively and ebullient 'Entrance' and 'Exit', these musical sketches of animals are an affectionate caricature of wildlife, exploring the unusual characteristics of these creatures. We hear penguins waddles as they march, slipping and sliding as they plunge into and clamber out of the sea. The barrel organ monkey captures a circus atmosphere, albeit with an element of irony. The solo alto saxophone introduces us to the sultry, nocturnal but often volatile world of the alley cats. The size and majesty of the blue whale is conveyed as it glides from the depths of the ocean to the surface.

Instrumentation: Soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, piano

Duration: 12 mins

1 - Entrance
2 - Penguins
3 - Barrel organ monkey
