ABBA - Money, money, money
arranged for Piano Solo ABBA was one of the most successful pop groups in musical history, writing a string of hits in the 1970’s and early 1980’s. The partnership of Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus generated brilliant songs, full of strong melody and harmony, infectious good humour, and emotionally charged vocal lines. Money, money, money was a hit from 1976, and is one of ABBA’s most striking songs. The nonchalance and irony of the lyrics is underpinned by driving rhythms and a minor key mood. This piano arrangement from 2003 was written in the spirit of the song arrangements of Liszt and Rachmaninov. While the essence of the song is intact, the harmonies are embellished and elaborated, counter-melodies are added, virtuoso figuration is employed and the original song’s flamboyance is transferred into pianistic bravura.
