Johann Strauss II - Tales from the Vienna Woods
for Chamber Orchestra

Johann Strauss II (1825 – 1899) was known in his lifetime as “The Waltz King”, who composed a vast number of dances, as well as operettas and ballet. Tales from the Vienna Woods (Geschichten aus dem Wienerwald) was composed in 1868, recalling the folk music of the Vienna Woods. It originally featured the classic Viennese instrument the zither, here replaced by the harp in this arrangement.

Instrumentation: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Harp, 2 Percussion (timpani, triangle, snare drum), Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Violoncello, Double Bass (15 players)​
