Lysenko - Prayer for Ukraine
arranged for Piano Solo

Mykola Lysenko (1842-1912) was one of the major figures in Ukrainian music who composed a large number of works, as well as promoting Ukrainian folksong and the Ukrainian language. He composed 'Prayer for Ukraine' in 1885 as a setting of a patriotic poem by Oleksandr Konysky. It has become known as the 'Spiritual Anthem' of Ukraine. This arrangement for piano solo was made in May 2022 for a benefit concert in London, in aid of Ukraine after the Russian invasion.
