Gabriel Fauré - Three Preludes
for String Quartet Gabriel Fauré composed his set of nine piano Preludes (Op. 103) in 1910-11, and they display the composer's late style. The advanced harmonic language is combined with clean vertical lines and structural concision. Three of the set have been arranged for string quartet, an ideal medium for this music of compact texture. 1 - F major (no. 4) - Allegretto moderato 2 - C minor (no. 8) - Allegro 3 - E minor (no. 9) - Adagio Instrumentation: string quartet Available to purchase from Aria Editions here Recorded by the Eusebius Quartet on SOMM Recordings Listen to a performance here |
