Edward Elgar - Chanson de matin
for Solo Violin and Chamber Ensemble

Elgar's Chanson de matin was completed and published in 1899, although it was likely sketched some years earlier. It was originally for violin and piano, and was published along with Chanson de nuit as Op. 15. The work is full of sunny charm, melodic beauty and a warm emotional core. This arrangement is for violin and chamber ensemble, and is based on Elgar's own orchestration. It was first performed at Buckingham Palace, London by Esther Yoo (violin) and members of the Philharmonia Orchestra, at the State visit of the South Korean President in the presence of the British Royal Family.

Instrumentation: Solo Violin, Flute, Oboe, Harp, Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello, Double Bass. Strings can be single to a part or a section of around
4, 3, 3, 2, 1
