Auld Lang Syne
for Choir and Piano The Scottish poet Robert Burns (1756-1796) wrote his poem 'Auld Lang Syne' in 1788, based on an existing folk song. It was set to a traditional tune and published in 1799. The song was subsequently used in Scotland to celebrate the New Year, or Hogmanay. This arrangement is vocally simple, contrasted with expressive and dreamlike harmonies in the piano. Auld Lang Syne (3:30) Published by Novello. Included in the Novello Book of British Folksongs. Available to purchase here |
